From product selection to application advice, the Fosroc ANZ team is here to help your project succeed. Here's one of the frequently asked questions we receive about choosing industrial flooring.
Q: What dosage of sand/grit is required to achieve non-slip ratings with Nitoflor?
A: Slip resistant flooring is critical to meet safety requirements and create an accident-free environment. Nitoflor products can be used to address four categories of slip resistance ratings, with different ratings requiring different types of grains and dosage levels.
Fortunately our new range of Nitoflor Anti-Slip Grains makes it easier to tailor a flooring solution to achieve ratings within your specific project requirements. Our technical bulletin Slip Resistant Flooring using broadcast aggregates provides recommended product systems and dosage levels.
The slip resistance rating categories relate to:
-
Surface performance when dry (D1/D0)
-
Surface performance when wet (P0-P5)
-
Applications which become wet during normal use and are subject to barefoot traffic (A/B/C)
-
Industrial applications where footwear is required (R10-R13)
If a different rating is required than those nominated in the technical document, contact your Fosroc ANZ representative who will be able assist you to find a solution.

Anti-Slip Grains 31, Silicon Carbide – the most durable option, recommended for any area where durability cannot be compromised.
Selection advice
Not all aggregates are compatible with all coatings, so it's worth getting some customised advice from Fosroc ANZ's flooring experts. We can help you choose a tailored solution for your project.
Aggregates can be applied at a range of dosage rates, from lightly broadcast to maximum blinding coverage. As well as impacting the slip resistance achieved, the dosage will also affect the appearance and cleanability of the floor.
The more aggregate that is applied, the more difficult the surface may be to clean. A lighter broadcast of a larger aggregate makes the floor easier to clean, but can still achieve good slip resistance.
